We know that General Gas Equation is
(P1V1)/T1 = (P2V2)/T2 = CONSTANT
When the constant of general gas equation is replaced by a term mR then the equation formed becomes characteristic gas equation.
Therefore PV/T = C
PV/T = mR
PV = mRT
Where R = Gas Constant (Its value is different for different gases)
m = mass of gas
The value of R varies from gas to gas and for atmospheric air its value is 287 J/Kg.K
Unit of R
R = PV/mT
R= ( Nm-2×m3)/Kg×K
R = Nm/Kg×K
R = J/Kg.K
